Rachna Nambiar is a 7th Grader from
Lexington, MA. This is her first chess
tournament. She has expressed the
desire to study chess and to acquire the
skills necessary to be a good scholastic
player.  Brava! Rachna, and welcome
to the Boylston Chess Club.
CURIOUS PHOTO
Ed Astrachan, black vs Jared Mi; (background):
Rachna Nambiar, black vs Dan Schmidt. Now on this chess
board, it looks like Dan has just delivered a checkmate move
with his bishop to Rachna's King.  At the same time, I find
it curious that Dan's king seems to be napping. I can't wait
to find out the reason for this!
SLEEPING KING
MORE SCENES FROM AROUND THE HALL
NM Carissa Yip holds the position with black,
vs Jeffrey Guan. Carissa is the first female to win the
coveted title of "BCC Club Champion" . . .
this is a fantastic accomplishment. The sad thing is that
Carissa is one of a handful of females to have ever played
in a BCC Club Championship. Well, we certainly
have a rare and powerful personality in Carissa: wishing
her success in all her chess endeavors and in life!
